Shrine Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Our Lady of the Lakes Lakers. Five seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mike McGavin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Shrine Catholic let Caydin Barbato and Blake Archibald run wild. Barbato got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI, while Archibald scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Barbato has posted since back in May of 2024. Grant Poulton was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Shrine Catholic pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Our Lady of the Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Shrine Catholic will face off against Detroit Country Day at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Our Lady of the Lakes, they will take on Cranbrook Kingswood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
