Baseball Game Preview: Benton Central Bison vs. Seeger Patriots

The Benton Central Bison will head out on the road to square off against the Seeger Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Benton Central has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.

On Thursday, Benton Central didn't have quite enough to beat Parke Heritage and fell 2-1.

Benton Central got a good showing from Mason Schutter, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Benton Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Fox, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Seeger was able to grind out a solid victory over Attica on Thursday, taking the game 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Seeger's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

Benton Central skirted past Seeger 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
