Softball Recap: Grace Christian Beats Avoyelles Charter for Their Third Straight Win

Grace Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Avoyelles Charter Vikings a 7-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 on March 10th.

Rylee Guillot made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Chloe Courtright and Rory Decker did most of the damage at the plate: Courtright scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Decker scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Courtright also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Grace Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avoyelles Charter only posted a batting average of .048.

Grace Christian's record now sits at 13-7. As for Avoyelles Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Coming up, Grace Christian will head out on the road to take on Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avoyelles Charter, they will host Glenmora at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
