Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs

The Alexander Cougars will challenge the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.

Alexander will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Hiram, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Alexander rang in the new year with a 58-46 win over Hiram on Saturday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Hornets are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexander found their leader in sophomore Nimah Ibidunni, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. What's more, Ibidunni also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Italiano, who posted eight points in addition to eight assists and seven boards.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Kennesaw Mountain with a 54-29 loss courtesy of North Cobb on Saturday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kennesaw Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Alexander, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Everything came up roses for Alexander against Kennesaw Mountain when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 62-21 victory. In that match, Alexander amassed a halftime lead of 35-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
