Softball Recap: Wolcott Takes a Loss

Wolcott fell victim to Woodland Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 7-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Avery Malenfant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wolcott saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Belval, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Wolcott's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Woodland Regional, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 18-0.

Wolcott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Woodland Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seymour at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
