Volleyball Recap: Sonoma Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ukiah last Thursday, Sonoma Valley came back down to earth. The Dragons lost 3-0 to the Analy Tigers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

Sonoma Valley was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-22, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Sonoma Valley still got an impressive performance from Tristan Estrada, who had eight digs and five aces. Melchor Alcaraz also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Sonoma Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Analy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Sonoma Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against American Canyon on the 24th. As for Analy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Cardinal Newman on the 24th.
