Volleyball Recap: Harker Eagles vs. Mercy Bears
Harker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mercy Bears. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in October of 2021.
Harker started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 19-25, 25-20, 26-24, 15-7.
Elie Ahluwalia paced Harker's offense, picking up 22 kills. Ahluwalia got some help from Keira Chang and her 39 assists. Ahluwalia was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
Harker's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mercy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Coming up, Harker will welcome Menlo School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Mercy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Lowell on the 26th.
