Baseball Recap: Meridian Takes a Loss

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Petal Panthers, falling 20-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 last Tuesday.

Malachi Atterberry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Meridian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-12 otherwise.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Petal, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Meridian has already played their next contest (against Quitman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Petal, they have also already played their next game, a 17-2 win against Pearl on the 8th.
