Baseball Recap: Bluffton Starts Season with Victory at Home

Bluffton took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the New Haven Bulldogs 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Trevor Smith was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Axton Beste, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Bluffton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

This is the second loss in a row for New Haven and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will challenge Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Haven, they will square off against Fort Wayne Northrop at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
