Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Tri

Tri waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Cowan Blackhawks as they made off with a 10-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Macey Ballard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keirra Mettert was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Lyla Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Mettert wasn't the only one making solid contact: Tri kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Tri's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Cowan, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Tri has already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Wapahani on the 16th. As for Cowan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 14-1 victory against Randolph Southern on the 15th.
