Central York had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Red Lion Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Elizabeth Ferrell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooklyn Shaffer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ashlyn Weigle was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Shaffer wasn't the only one making solid contact: Central York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Central York's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Red Lion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Central York and Red Lion will both be playing New Oxford the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Colonials at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will host them at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
