Basketball Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions

Pinnacle is 8-2 against the Mountain Lions since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pinnacle Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. Pinnacle is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact Pinnacle proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against O'Connor by a score of 59-49.

It was another big night for Norah Moo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 14 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Dean, who scored ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge was beaten by the Vikings 85-24 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Vikings are ranked 27th).

Pinnacle is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-16.

Everything came up roses for Pinnacle against the Mountain Lions when the teams last played last Tuesday as the squad secured a 74-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinnacle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
