Softball Recap: Hanover Hawks vs. Dinwiddie Generals
With a playoff game on the line, Hanover rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Dinwiddie Generals. The win was just business as usual For Hanover, who after 20 games remain undefeated this season.
Lillian Parrish made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Parrish has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Parrish was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaileigh Byars, who went 2-for-3 with a home run.
Hanover's victory bumped their record up to 20-0. As for Dinwiddie, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
