Baseball Recap: Doral Academy Red Rock Takes a Loss

Doral Academy Red Rock fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cheyenne on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Shields. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Desert Shields recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Doral Academy Red Rock saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Badua, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Badua is becoming a predictor of the Dragons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-9-1 when he doesn't). Another was Sebastian Zaman, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Doral Academy Red Rock's loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1. As for Cheyenne, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3.

While Doral Academy Red Rock had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
