Recap: Copper Canyon Aztecs vs. Buckeye Hawks
The Copper Canyon Aztecs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye. Copper Canyon has not had much luck with Buckeye recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Buckeye got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zachary Bennett out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Leyva, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Copper Canyon bumped their record down to 7-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Buckeye, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Copper Canyon will square off against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buckeye will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
