Baseball Recap: Wauconda Wins Going Away Against Antioch

Wauconda won the last time they faced Antioch and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Sequoits with a sharp 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Wauconda got a great performance from Patrick Shannon as he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits.

On the hitting side, Ryan Fostiak was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Wauconda is 5-1 when Fostiak posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Luke Sickmeir was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Wauconda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

The win got Wauconda back to even at 7-7. As for Antioch, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.

Wauconda will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sequoits: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
