Cape Fear wins going away against Western Alamance

Recap: Cape Fear Colts vs. Western Alamance Warriors

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Cape Fear Colts walked away with it. They put the hurt on Western Alamance with a sharp 33-13 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Cape Fear, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Cape Fear was led to victory by Jeremiah Melvin and Geronimo Sanchez. Melvin picked up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Sanchez rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Melvin's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.

Cape Fear's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Robert Moore and Desmond Harris who racked up five sacks between them.

The victory (which was Cape Fear's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.6 points per game. As for Western Alamance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Cape Fear will head out on the road to face off against Havelock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Havelock will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Western Alamance does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
