Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Yorktown's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Yorktown walked away with it. They never let the Connersville Spartans get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Wednesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by nine runs or more this season.

Not much got past Olivia Jones, who gave up just two hits to keep Connersville off the board. Jones has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abbey Booher and Brooklyn Bartle did most of the damage at the plate: Booher went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Bartle went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jaromin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Yorktown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

Yorktown is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Connersville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-11.

As of now, neither Yorktown nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
