Preview: Alexandria-Monroe Tigers vs. Frankton Eagles
After three games on the road, Alexandria-Monroe is heading back home. They will take on the Frankton Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Alexandria-Monroe blew past Taylor, posting a 87-16 win on the road. Given Alexandria-Monroe's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Taylor is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Frankton waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 54-23 victory over Shenandoah on the road.
Emma Sperry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Frankton's points. Amaya Collins was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 8 steals.
Alexandria-Monroe's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Frankton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Alexandria-Monroe beat Frankton 55-48 when the teams last played back in January. Will Alexandria-Monroe repeat their success, or does Frankton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
