Upstate Eight - River recap October 22, 2013

Batavia added to the longest winning streak in Upstate Eight - River this week by beating East, 47-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Bulldogs.

The Fighting Saints lost to Batavia 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jimmy Mitchell threw for 181 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss.

Daniel Santacaterina threw for 373 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 11-19 with 0 interceptions.

Blake Fialka made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mike Fields' team fell to Dennis Piron's team. He grabbed 1 sack.

Santacaterina put up the best numbers in passing as Geneva bested Metea Valley. Santacaterina's favorite target this week was Kyle Brown, who caught 5 passes for 138 yards.

The Vikings' Santacaterina and Pace Temple led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Santacaterina has thrown for 1,956 yards this season, while Temple has 33 catches for 675 yards. The Bulldogs' Anthony Scaccia leads the league in rushing yards with 998.

Going into this week's game against Larkin, the Fighting Saints' Mitchell needs 112 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Mitchell has thrown for 1,888 yards with 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Batavia's Scaccia is a mere 2 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 133 carries Scaccia has put up 998 yards this year.

The Bulldogs are in first place, while the Maroons are in seventh place.

Geneva and the Mustangs played the most contested game in the league this week, with Geneva eventually emerging with a 49-45 victory. Santacaterina ran for 24 yards in the win.
