Basketball Preview: Defiance Bulldogs vs. Celina Bulldogs
Defiance has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Celina Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 66 points the game before, Defiance were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a hard 39-21 fall against Bath. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Defiance in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Defiance saw an underclassman step up: Isabella Rowlison scored 12 points. Rowlison is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Meanwhile, Celina was beaten by the Titans 65-29 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Celina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while the Titans are ranked 29th).
Defiance's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Celina, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Defiance came up short against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 34-29. Can Defiance avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
