Recap: Coolidge Yellowjackets vs. Avalon Eagles
The Coolidge Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 41-31 to Avalon. Coolidge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Avalon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 25 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least 25% of Avalon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caty Betancourt, who scored 6 points.
Coolidge has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 1-7 record. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Avalon, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Coolidge will take on Dawson at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Avalon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Perrin-Whitt at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
