Carmel won the last time they faced Mt. Vernon and things went their way on Saturday too. The Greyhounds put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Looking ahead, Carmel will be playing at home against Batesville at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Greyhounds have won five straight at home, while the Bulldogs won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Mt. Vernon, they will challenge Yorktown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
