Softball Recap: Lawson Takes a Loss

If Lawson was feeling good fresh off their 22-0 takedown of Maplewood last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lawson came up short against the Fairview Yellowjackets on Wednesday, falling 19-4.

Lawson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Greer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another was Isabella Batts, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Lawson has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Fairview's victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Coming up, Lawson will challenge Glencliff at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairview, they will face off against Creek Wood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Creek Wood's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Fairview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
