Basketball Game Preview: Phillips Wildcats vs. Perspectives Leadership

The Phillips Wildcats will face off against Perspectives Leadership on Monday. Phillips knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Perspectives Leadership likes a good challenge.

Phillips is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Goode STEM Academy 87-25. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Knights are ranked 400th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cayden Brown was the offensive standout of the matchup as he posted 21 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diontae Black, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, Perspectives Leadership had to kick off their season on the road on January 13th, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Englewood Stem 65-37.

Phillips is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for Perspectives Leadership, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
