Basketball Game Preview: Kadoka Kougars vs. Lyman Raiders

The Kadoka Kougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Lyman Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Kadoka is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Kadoka strolled past Belle Fourche with points to spare, taking the game 64-47. The Kougars pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncs cut but never quite recovered from.

Gus Stout continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8-for-12 en route to 19 points and three steals. What's more, he also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Jared Nemecek was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Lyman didn't have quite enough to beat Upton on Saturday and fell 37-35. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 66th in South Dakota, while the Bobcats are ranked 11th in Wyoming).

Lyman's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Kadoka, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Kadoka took their win against Lyman when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 63-39. Does Kadoka have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lyman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
