            The Pennfield Panthers didn't have quite enough to beat the Lawton Blue Devils on Thursday and fell  9-8.
 Alaina Simmons put in work while hitting and pitching. She  struck out nine batters over  6.1 innings while giving up just two earned  (and seven unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and not a single walk). What's more,  she gave up only zero  walks, the fewest she's  had since back in April. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Mallorie Miller was cooking despite her team's loss,   getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.  Tyler Primm was another key player,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  run and one  RBI.
Pennfield has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record  this season. As for Lawton, the  victory was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-12.
While Pennfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
