Basketball Recap: Dell City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Big Bend last Tuesday, Dell City came back down to earth. The Dell City Cougars came up short against the Sanderson Eagles on Thursday, falling 55-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 59-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Dell City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaac Estrada posted 15 points. Estrada's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zach Mendoza, who put up six points.

Dell City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Sanderson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.

Dell City has already played their next matchup, a 42-26 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 14th. As for Sanderson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-39 defeat against Immanuel Christian on the 13th.
