Basketball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Soledad Aztecs

North Salinas and Soledad are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The North Salinas Vikings will face off against the Soledad Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Salinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, North Salinas didn't have too much trouble with King City as they won 47-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Andre Lizaola was the offensive standout of the match as he dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jesse Mendez, who posted nine points.

North Salinas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Soledad beat King City 44-34 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by exactly ten points.

Soledad is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for North Salinas, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

North Salinas came up short against Soledad when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 57-52. Can North Salinas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
