Football Game Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. Hart County Bulldogs

After each having a week off, the Appling County Pirates and the Hart County Bulldogs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. One thing working in Appling County's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.

Appling County's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Friday, when they got past Pierce County's usually-dominant defense. The Pirates took down the Bears 31-14. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jaiden Knight was his usual excellent self, rushing for 269 yards and three TDs while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. Those 269 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Knight was just one part of a punishing run game: Appling County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Hart County fell victim to Franklin County and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Lions 31-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Hart County dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Appling County, their record is now 7-3.
