Softball Recap: Scituate Comes Up Short

Barrington hit Scituate with a six-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 9-6 to the Eagles. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Victoria Geisser and Isabella Defusco did some serious damage despite the final result: Geisser went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple, while Defusco got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Defusco has hit this season. Lily Maggiacomo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Scituate and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Barrington, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Scituate will welcome Cumberland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Barrington, they will square off against Tiverton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
