Baseball Game Preview: Chief Sealth Seahawks vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Chief Sealth hasn't had much luck against Roosevelt recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Seahawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chief Sealth 3.1, Roosevelt 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Chief Sealth's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Rainier Beach with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nevin Pivar and Brady Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pivar tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Murphy pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pivar has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Pivar went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, while Murphy went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Murphy a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Vanbuskirk, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Hull, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Chief Sealth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Roosevelt's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seattle Academy on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Roughriders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Chief Sealth, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Everything went Chief Sealth's way against Roosevelt in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Chief Sealth made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Seahawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roughriders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
