Soccer Game Preview: Socorro vs. Eastlake

Socorro hasn't had much luck against Eastlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Socorro Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Eastlake Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Socorro will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

If Socorro beats Eastlake with three goals on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Socorro who was credited with the victory on Friday. Socorro got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Eastwood's four. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Troopers are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Socorro hit Eastwood with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Juan Perez, Rudolfo Vaquera, and Aaron Sanchez.

Eastlake is headed into the game without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Montwood a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Socorro pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Eastlake, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0-1.

Socorro was able to grind out a solid win over Eastlake when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 4-2. Does Socorro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eastlake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
