Basketball Game Preview: Burke Bulldogs vs. Papillion-LaVista Monarchs

Burke is 0-9 against Papillion-LaVista since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Burke Bulldogs will head out to take on the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Burke is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 4th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Columbus as Burke made off with a 75-55 win. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 58-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Discoverers cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Papillion-LaVista). They claimed a resounding 88-59 victory over Benson. With the Monarchs ahead 43-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Burke's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Papillion-LaVista, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Things could have been worse for Burke, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-53 loss to Papillion-LaVista in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Burke, Brock Rahl (who went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
