Softball Game Preview: Firebaugh Falcons vs. Lynwood Knights

The Firebaugh Falcons will challenge the Lynwood Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Firebaugh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Firebaugh took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Hoover with a sharp 20-10 victory. Considering the Falcons have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Camila Curumaco, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Giselle Maravilla, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.

Firebaugh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only posted a batting average of .292.

Meanwhile, Lynwood lost 13-2 to Glendale on Monday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Firebaugh is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Lynwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Firebaugh took their victory against Lynwood when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 17-5 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
