Baseball Recap: Washington County Comes Up Short on the Road Against Shelby County

Washington County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 8-5 to the Shelby County Rockets on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Commanders of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.

Dylan Mattingly was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Shelby County's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington County will host Marion County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shelby County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against North Oldham at 6:00 p.m.
