Softball Recap: University Wins Going Away Against Westchester

University won the last time they faced Westchester and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats blew past the Comets 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Carpenter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Carpenter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Anzora, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Ditagi Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

University lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-1 when they post two or more home runs.

The win got University back to even at 7-7. As for Westchester, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

University wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against Venice on the 14th. As for Westchester, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-3 loss against Palisades on the 14th.
