Football Game Preview: New Designs Watts Knights vs. Stella High Charter Academy Eagles

The New Designs Watts Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Stella High Charter Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stella High Charter Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on New Designs Watts, who comes in off a win.

New Designs Watts is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing USC Hybrid: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Trojans out of the water with a 48-20 final score. The Knights pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had little chance of recovering from.

New Designs Watts' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Garcia, who rushed for 154 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Those 154 rushing yards gave Garcia a new career-high. Jerimiah May was another key player, rushing for 57 yards and one TD.

New Designs Watts' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brian Jones, Jamier WHicks, and Rudy Navarrete-Garcia, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-6, which was the final score in Stella High Charter Academy's tilt against Animo Robinson two weeks ago. The Eagles have struggled against the Monarchs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The victory made it two in a row for New Designs Watts and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Stella High Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
