Foxcroft Academy suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. Mount Desert Island Trojans

The Foxcroft Academy Ponies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. Their tough 57-34 loss to Mount Desert Island might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Foxcroft Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Mount Desert Island is ranked 31st).

Foxcroft Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Conklin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Conklin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Day, who scored two points along with six steals.

Even though they lost, Foxcroft Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Foxcroft Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Mount Desert Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Foxcroft Academy will head out on the road to take on Ellsworth at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ellsworth will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Mount Desert Island, they will play host again and welcome Hermon, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
