Recap: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Pueblo West Cyclones
After flying high against the Pueblo South Colts last Monday, the Pueblo East Eagles came back down to earth. Pueblo East fell 50-42 to Pueblo West on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Pueblo East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Pueblo West is ranked 49th).
Despite the defeat, Pueblo East saw an underclassman step up: Myah Abeyta scored 17 points along with eight steals. Another player making a difference was Sammie Alzate, who scored nine points.
Pueblo East's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Pueblo West, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo East will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Pueblo County at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Pueblo West, they will square off against Pueblo Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
