Basketball Recap: South Whidbey Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

While South Whidbey didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 55-37 win over the Granite Falls Tigers on Friday. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 51-49 defeat the last time these two teams met.

South Whidbey's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sage Northup, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Redford, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

South Whidbey's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Granite Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

South Whidbey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-18 victory against Tyee on the 21st. As for Granite Falls, they will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Baker at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
