Basketball Recap: Providence Classical Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Providence Classical Christian Academy played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 40-17 to the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Providence Classical Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Selah Sparks, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Sparks a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Providence Classical Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

It was another big night for Katie Gross, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards for Westwood Baptist Academy. Gross has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hawley, who posted nine points along with six assists and three steals.

Providence Classical Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Providence Classical Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-18 victory against Heartland Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-30 win against Heritage Classical Christian Academy on the 21st.
