Basketball Recap: Addie Stadsholt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Athens over PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central

After flying high against Riverton last Thursday, Athens came back down to earth. The Athens Warriors took a 49-33 bruising from the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays on Monday. The Warriors have struggled against the Bluejays recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Athens lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addie Stadsholt, who went 7-for-13 en route to 16 points along with seven boards and three blocks. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jaci Derringer, who posted five points and nine rebounds.

It was another big night for Aubrey Vogel, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 23 points and four steals for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central. What's more, Vogel also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Carson Arthalony was another key player, putting up nine points and three blocks.

Athens' record now sits at 16-12. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-5.

Athens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-38 victory against Olympia on the 13th. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 43-35 defeat against Pleasant Plains on the 13th.
