Softball Recap: Terre Haute North Vigo Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Terre Haute North Vigo proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 23) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves 5-4. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kyleigh Walker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Walker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rayven Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits Wilson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was Kyanna Gardner, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Terre Haute North Vigo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Terre Haute North Vigo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Terre Haute North Vigo will take on Avon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Orioles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.93 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they will welcome Columbus North at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves are facing the Bull Dogs at the right time seeing as the Bull Dogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
