Football Recap: Liberty County Takes a Loss

After soaring to 45 points the game before, Liberty County was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 45-7 loss at the hands of the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Tiger Sharks: they've now lost five in a row.

Port St. Joe was led to victory by Eli Harris and Zay Jenkins. Harris threw for 218 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes, while Jenkins rushed for 114 yards and one score. Jenkins' longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Port St. Joe also got help from Eli Godwin, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.

Liberty County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Port St. Joe, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty County will head out to challenge Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Seahawks have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Port St. Joe, they will square off against Blountstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 989 yards in their previous games.
