Basketball Recap: Winston-Salem Prep Takes a Loss

Winston-Salem Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals 55-6.

College Prep & Leadership Academy found their leader in freshman Alexis Holmes, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and eight steals. With that strong performance, Holmes is now averaging an impressive 2.7 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Johnson, who posted nine points and five steals.

Winston-Salem Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cornerstone Charter the next time they take the court. College Prep & Leadership Academy will host Cornerstone Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Winston-Salem Prep will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
