Basketball Recap: Mead Raiders vs. Oakland-Craig Knights
If Mead was feeling good fresh off their 76-54 takedown of Clarkson/Leigh last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mead Raiders took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakland-Craig Knights on Tuesday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2016.
Mead lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaac Couch, who posted 22 points and six rebounds. Tytus R Lee was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.
Even though they lost, Mead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland-Craig only two offensive boards.
Oakland-Craig had a senior duo take command as Dawson Meyer had 18 points and five steals and Braylon Anderson went 7-for-16 to rack up 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meyer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaak Maxwell, who put up seven points.
Mead's record is now 14-10. As for Oakland-Craig, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-6 record.
Mead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oakland-Craig, they will head out on the road to face off against Yutan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Yutan will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Oakland-Craig surely won't give up without a fight.
