Softball Recap: Comstock Park Panthers vs. Wyoming Wolves
Comstock Park extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-11. They lost 11-2 to the Wyoming Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Thursday.
Comstock Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Edwards, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
As for Wyoming, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
On Wyoming's side, SaraBeth Vandenbosh made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Vandenbosh a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Nerissa Cruz was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Jazmayra Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Coming up, Comstock Park will venture away from home to take on Kenowa Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.38 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wyoming, they will welcome Wayland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
