Basketball Recap: Mesilla Valley Christian School Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Mesilla Valley Christian School waltzed into their game on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 51-41 win over the Cloudcroft Bears. The SonBlazers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Mesilla Valley Christian School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nevaeh Benjamin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. Benjamin's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Katey Black was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Mesilla Valley Christian School's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Cloudcroft, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Mesilla Valley Christian School will head out to face off against Capitan at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cloudcroft, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lordsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lordsburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Cloudcroft surely won't give up without a fight.
