Basketball Recap: Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams Takes a Loss

Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams is still winless after their matchup against Dugway on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dugway Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-42 last Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams lost, don't look at Shayne Simpson. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Sandoval, who posted five points in addition to ten boards and seven steals.

Tanner Thackeray continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dugway, putting up 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thackeray has scored at least a third of Dugway's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quaid Elton, who had eight points.

Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Dugway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-34 defeat against Freedom Prep Academy on the 17th. Dugway will take on Pinnacle in a holiday battle at at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
